Microsoft uses .wim image in Windows7 installation!

I’ve been trying to explore out the installation of windows7 in various ways and i observed one thing that the setup is really faster than other previous OS versions like XP . During one of the setup i found that microsoft is actually using .wim image during the setup.

The image name is install.wim and when i opened this image using WAIK in win2003 i saw the whole physical structure of windows 7

Thats why the installation of windows7 completes within 15-20 minutes

Moreover windows7 uses lot of features of .net 3.5 especially WPF and ADO.NET for UI and querying internal information from databases like registry, CLR, services and much more.

Im looking forward to explore more of the internals by the time RTM is out
